Our natural resources're not being totally polluted by its efforts,
The increasing awareness of environment especially among the young population
The adequate scientific and technical human resource who can work in this field make
our country favored in regards of achieving sustainable development.
The disadvantages of Turkey in this field are:
in spite of not being totally polluted, the continous pollution of our natural resources;
making use of natural resources related to the investment for environment without
taking care of the set aims;
not keeping the record of information and data systematically related to environment;
and those which are recorded having not a certain standard in terms of data collection,
verifying, evaluation and transforming into information.

Individuals should fulfill their duties as
responsible citizens in order to achieve sustainable development with regards of
environmental protection. Therefore, it is compulsory that individuals be thaught in the
subject of sustainable development education beginning from primary school, as well as
making them aware of the environment.,
UNESCO (2003) has declared the vision of sustainable development education as
“societies should work in order to improve their level of civilization and economical power
while being aware of the value of natural resources”. Sustainable development education
improves the ethical attitudes, which are necessary for lifetime learning, and encourages us to
use the natural resources necessary for our planet according to our needs and not for more.
